30 Things I’ve Learned in 30 Years

30 Things

Hello all! This week we are gearing up for… well not my birthday. Chucky’s birthday party got rained out last weekend so we will be celebrating this Saturday instead but Sunday is my actual, factual birthday and I am turning the big 3-0. I kind of don’t care but I kind of care A LOT and I can’t pin down what my actual feelings are about this birthday. While I figure it all out I jotted down 30 helpful things I’ve learned in 30 years. And stay tuned til the end of the post because I’ve got a BIG surprise waiting for you…

  1. I don’t bounce back like I used to. I got drunk at my 27th birthday party and I still haven’t recovered.
  2. You actually do need sunblock.
  3. Never sleep without washing off your makeup. I always thought my acne would go away as an adult. That was a horrible, heinous lie.
  4. Always be prepared. Not in the girl scout sense, but in the “anything that can go wrong, will go wrong” sense and you might as well prepare for it.
  5. I have a black thumb. Plastic plants are my only true friends.
  6. I am an introvert. Please don’t make me talk to people.
  7. Food tastes better when cooked on the grill. This is a scientific fact.

  8. There will always be housework. ALWAYS.
  9. The laundry never ends. And it tends to morph into mountains.
  10. Lying on a beach doing nothing is actually AWESOME.

If I could live on that beach, I would.

  11. Stay in your lane.
  12. Let go and let God.
  13. When you don’t know what to do, look for God.
  14. Life is scary; live anyway.
  15. Don’t put dish soap in the dishwasher. I learned that the hard way.
  16. Don’t put hot oil in a plastic bowl. I also learned that the hard way.
  17. Having the right tools makes any job easier.
  18. Try everything. You might suck at it but you’ll always have fun.
  19. Being a mother doesn’t mean you stop being you.
  20. My husband is amazing.

    He looks so snazzy!

  21. I do need other people. We weren’t meant to live in isolation, no matter what my little introvert heart tells me. Find good, quality people and never let them go.
  22. Spaghetti-o’s are still delicious.
  23. Always have a back up gallon of milk.
  24. Time heals all wounds. Cocktails help. img_5046
  25. There is nothing like a warm, sunny day after a long, dreary winter.
  26. There is no shame in taking a nap.
  27. Coffee dates with your best friend are good for the soul.
  28. There’s always room for dessert. Especially if the dessert is ice cream.
  29. There’s no point in comparing yourself to people on social media. Those filters can make anyone’s life look amazing.
  30. It’s good to be generous….

Which is why I’m doing a giveaway!! I was able to meet up with Jennifer Fulwiler no less than THREE! TIMES! on her One Beautiful Dream tour this past month (I’m not a stalker I swear!) and she so very graciously autographed this very special copy of her book just for my little ole’ blog.

Entry to the giveaway is simple! Make sure you follow me either on Facebook or Instagram (or both! Both is good), tag a friend in the comments on the dedicated post on either page, and you’re entered to win! You get one entry for each friend you tag. The giveaway will close at midnight on Sunday, May 27th and I’ll announce the winner next week. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!
